Sage 50 US Ideas Portal

Sage Hosted - give the option to choose default printer in global or company settings so it will automatically select system printer!!

Sage Hosted defaults to Microsoft PDF; when I switch to my printer, settings for reports and checks I have previously set up are no longer recognized; I have to change the entire setup - number of copies, orientation, printer tray - such a waste of time as much as I print reports and checks. I switched to SAGE HOSTED in August of 2025 and everything worked fine until around November - since then I have wasted time and paper/checks, having to change printer to my system printer, then to only have it not print as per the settings saved, I have to change settings again and reprint . . . Please PLEASE give the end-user the option to select a system printer. Why would anyone want to print to MICROSFT PDF anyway? If you actually need a hard copy or a check, you have to go find the PDF and print it anyway. It creates extra and unnecessary steps.

    Possible fix for this issue?

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/fundamentals/universal-print-avd

If they set/use Universal Print might solve the problem, but this means they also need to give us permission for Printer Portal to let user to set the printer or something? Just throw idea to resolve this problem.

I am using Sage 50 Cloud, I am not sure that's different than Sage Hosted, but having same problem.

Technically this is hard to fix since remote/connect from host doesn't know your printer when it start, plus it will keep change the name of printer of yours for each session, that's why whole thing switch to default or at least they made it to change to default. But I am actually surprised it worked before till November. They should look into what's been changed on November. Maybe they can change back this printer setting. By the way, if printer name changed (expected), Sage may give an error message. I actually prefer to have this error than Microsoft PDF which will never use anyways. So at least, user will know they have to change the printer, otherwise they will wondering why not printing. (Some user may not even realize this is due to Printer changed to Microsoft PDF)
