The default transaction date should always be the system date, even when the system date does not fall within the current period. The current convention of defaulting transactions to the first day of the current period when the system date is not within the current period serves no purpose and it frequently results in transactions being posted to the wrong date and period. I would keep the behavior of remembering the last used date in a data entry session. That is helpful when doing catch-up work. I'm putting this in Customers & Sales, since their is no choice for "All" in the product area, but this should be changed for ALL transactions.
